The Orleans County Historical Society, which owns the Old Stone House Museum, is a non-profit organization in Northeast Kingdom, Vermont. The mission of the Orleans County Historical Society, Inc. is to stimulate public interest and foster public understanding regarding the history of Orleans County and 19th century life in a hill village, with special emphasis on the history of the Orleans County Grammar School and the lives of Alexander Lucius Twilight and Samuel Read Hall.

 

 

To accomplish this mission, the Society will:

* Preserve and protect the Old Stone House and the Brownington Historic District

* Operate the Old Stone House as a museum of local and regional history

* Collect and preserve artifacts and records relating to the history of Orleans County

* Develop educational programs on regional history in collaboration with area schools

* Sponsor public programs relating to regional history

* Provide assistance with research relating to the history of Orleans County
