Volunteers

Once a week? Once a month? Once? How often can you VOLUNTEER?

We will gratefully take all the help we can get! Our organization depends on the presence of volunteers to keep everything running smoothly and effectively. We always need Old Stone House Museum tour guides the most. When visitors come, we tell them the story of Alexander Twilight and his Athenian Hall.

We know that being a tour guide is not everyone’s forté. If you are not comfortable leading a group of people around the Museum, there are other activities for which to volunteer. We need help with gardening (we have a wonderful heirloom kitchen garden), and manning the Museum gift shop (when visitors want to buy that new Howard Frank Mosher book that just arrived on our shelves). If you are good with children, the education coordinator would love to have your help! She has many programs that will bring local history to the children of the county but not nearly enough help for them to be efficient.

Every summer the Museum has events such as the Antique Gas & Steam Engine Show, Big Band Dance and Old Stone House Day. At each of these events, we need extra hands to get things done.

Of course, these are other ways you can help us by volunteering…

Give us a call to find out what you can do!!
