DESCRIPTION:Sunday\, August 25th\nConcert at 4pm | Reception to Follow\nEarly Bird Tickets ~  \n$20 for non-members  \n$15 for members – Become a Member Here \n  \nAfter Aug 24 ~ Regular Ticket Prices \n\n\n$25 per non-member\n$20 per member\n\n\n\n\n\n~ Get Your Tickets Here ~\n\n\n\n\nThe Old Stone House Museum and Historic Village will present An Evening of Jazz—a benefit concert to conserve and restore important Orleans County\, VT historical objects\, including the 19th century oil portraits of Derby Pioneers Timothy and Phebe (Stoddard) Hinman as well as an important Uncle Tom’s Cabin grand advertisement (75” x 82”) that was discovered behind a wall in the Old East Side Restaurant in Newport! \n  \nAll three pieces are currently waiting for the funds to finish much needed conservation work required for their long-term preservation. We want many generations to come to learn from these artifacts—and you can help with your donation! \n  \n~ DONATE HERE ~\n  \nAn Evening of Jazz features String of Sheeps\, combining the classical artistry of cellist Melissa Perley with the jazz and folk influenced writing of saxophonist and ukulele player Tom Frink. String of Sheeps believes in tightly arranged\, simple writing with brief flourishes of improvisation. \nThe concert will be held at the Brownington Village Congregational Church in the Brownington Historic District. Following the performance\, attendees will be welcome across the street at the historic Samuel Read Hall House\, where a catered reception featuring Jasper Hill Cheese\, Eden Wine and Ciders\, as well as Joan’s Rhubarb Punch and a variety of appetizers\, canapes and hors d’oeuvres! Pianist Mark Violette will entertain on the William Bourne Square Grand Piano during the reception. \n  \n~ Get Your Tickets Here ~\n  \nString of Sheeps\ncombines the classical artistry of cellist Melissa Perley with the jazz and folk influenced writing of saxophonist and ukulele player Tom Frink. String of Sheeps believes in tightly arranged\, simple writing with brief flourishes of improvisation. \n  \nMelissa Perley – Cello\nCellist Melissa Perley actively performs chamber music professionally throughout northern New England: classically with string trio\, string quartet + vocal quartet\, piano trio\, and string  quintet\, but more commonly as a soloist with pianist Vladimir Odinokikh\, a graduate and former teacher of the Moscow Conservatory in Russia. Most recently she has been performing with one of Vermont’s premier pianists\, Diane Huling. \nMelissa has also ventured into other genres: with a Gypsy/Romani band and now with jazz wind and uke player and composer Tom Frink. As a teacher\, her studio has included students of all levels\, including conservatory graduates. She is currently head adjudicator for the Vermont All State Music Festival low strings and co-director in the Green Mountain Youth Symphony organization. Melissa is also the author of the award winning children’s book The Violin Family. \nTom Frink – Sax\, Ukulele\, Vocals\nTom Frink strives to make music accessible\, whether that’s in the classroom as a music educator or as a performer and composer. When presenting music\, Tom strives to focus on a range of concepts\, allowing him to creatively explore the interplay between simple ideas. He has used this unique style in his duo\, String of Sheeps\, which performs mostly original songs that embrace a philosophy based on a simple idea: let a song say what it’s going to say. \nIn addition to String of Sheeps\, Tom also performs in various jazz ensembles and the St. Albans-based cover band Cozy. \n
