Have you taken any photos in the Old Stone House Museum & Historic Village? You can help us share them to document our history, let others enjoy the beauty of the village, and get the chance to win cash prizes!
This month, the Wiki Loves Monuments international photographic competition will document and promote historic sites around the world through Wikimedia projects (mainly Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons). Everybody can participate. Wikipedia will be accepting submissions for their photography competition, featuring prizes of up to $500.
They’re looking for photographs of “districts, sites, buildings, structures and objects deemed worthy of preservation for their historical significance.” Anywhere on our campus meets that criteria.
According to the rules, “Photos of all historical sites are valued, but photos of more uncommon and less-photographed sites will do better in judging.” You might have noticed that the Brownington Historic Village Wikipedia page features just one photograph, even though the village includes numerous sites and structures. So if you have any good shots of the Alexander Twilight House, Prospect Hill, the Samuel Read Hall House, or anywhere else, they would make great submissions!
Learn more about the competition here and please share your submissions with us on Facebook and Instagram. Good luck!
