Our thirteenth “A Glimpse of the Past” with The Barton Chronicle featured a barn raising (presumed to be in Orleans County), a sawmill near Holland Pond (early 1900’s) and the Brownington Center Store and Town Clerk’s Office (also early 1900’s).
In the barn raising photo, the men have been working on erecting the frame while the women are preparing to serve dinner on the barn floor. The sawmill near Holland Pond in our second photo sold lumber at $16.00 per thousand feet.
All of these photos are part of the digital collection at the Old Stone House Museum & Historic Village.
