A level two electric vehicle charger is now available for public use at the Old Stone House Museum & Historic Village. With partial funding support from USDA Rural Development’s Community Facilities grant, the Old Stone House installed a Clipper Creek charging station in the parking field adjacent to the Twilight House visitor center.
Executive Director of the Old Stone House, Molly Veysey explains, “each season we have folks call and ask if there is a charging station nearby or onsite. When we tell them where the nearest station is, they often decide not to visit the Old Stone House for fear they may be stranded without the option to charge for their ride home. These conversations, plus the fact that more and more people are driving electric vehicles locally, including members of our own staff, inspired us to find funding for the installation. It’s an important step in the direction of updating our historic infrastructure to help address the needs of the future.”
The new charging station pairs perfectly with a guided tour of the Old Stone House Museum, or a self-guided walk around the historic village while people charge their vehicle. There is a small service charge that can be paid either by cash or check, or with a credit card.
“The fee will help offset maintenance costs of the charger over time,” says Ms. Veysey.
The Old Stone House welcomes people to come, visit and charge!
