Here at the Old Stone House Museum & Historic Village, we work hard to offer expertly-led hands-on educational experiences to our community. Whether you take part in a blacksmithing or rug braiding course or participate in timber framing or apple grafting workshops, you are a member of a special community.

Adult & Teen Enrichment: Herbal Alchemy

Saturday, April 18th, 2026 I 2-4:30pm

In this class we will use a number of delicious drinks and snacks such as hot chocolate, lemonade, apple sauce, and fruit leather as vehicles for the delivery of locally sourced wild foods and herbs. While sampling these delights we’ll discuss chronic disease, the organ systems, and herbal protocols for vibrant health.

With instructor Elliot Cluba. Elliot is the owner of Herbs and Arrows primitive skills school. Elliot teaches wilderness and primitive skills, martial arts, herbalism, basketry and holistic health. He lives in Montgomery with his wife and two daughters. A popular instructor here at the museum who has taught birch basketry classes and has been a participant in our fall fiber faire. We are excited to welcome him back and tap into his additional herbal skill set. Don’t miss out on his excellent teaching skills, interactions and insights.

Saturday, May 2nd, 2026 I 2-5pm

In this hands-on class we will learn to fully process acorns into a delicious user-friendly flour before creating some culinary delights to enjoy while discussing propagating this magical seed for future generations of countless beings to enjoy.

Brownington Beekeepers

Our learning apiary got off the ground with funding from New England Grassroots Environmental Fund and the Vermont Community Foundation. It features four beehives located behind the Alexander Twilight House that are maintained by the Brownington Beekeepers. The Beekeepers are active all year, maintaining our hives and educating beekeepers throughout our region with monthly meetings. Join their email list to learn more and take part.
