A New Alexander Twilight Graphic Story by Local Author & Illustrator!

January 17, 2023

Bill Tulp, a local author and illustrator, has created an amazing graphic biography: The Life and Times of Alexander Twilight

This book is officially released today (1/17/23) and can be found in local bookstores and our Gift Shop once we open again for the season! This wonderful author’s release date is also the 7th annual National Day of Racial Healing!

This inspiring graphic story celebrates a formerly unsung historic figure.

As a board member articulated, Mr. Twilight was “…an example of what can be achieved when an individual puts no limits on his own possibilities and those around him place no boundaries on what he can do.”

By reading Bill’s graphic biography, readers will learn the full life story of Alexander Twilight. In addition to being the first African American to earn a Bachelor’s degree in the U.S., Mr. Twilight was the first African American to serve in a state legislature. He also played an important role in the history of our area.

A book release gathering celebrating Bill’s work is slated to take place at the Old Stone House Museum’s Grammar School on Hinman Settler Rd., next door to the Brownington Church, on Sun. Feb. 26th, from 1:30 – 3:30 PM (snow date on March 5th 1:30 – 3:30 PM). The event will begin with Bill leading a short presentation on the process he used in creating the work; then guests are welcome to talk with the author, explore the book and purchase copy (or signed copy!) for $12.99. The event is free and open to the public.
