Celebrate the Bicentennial of the Orleans County Grammar School at Old Stone House Day!
Join us Sunday, August 13 at 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM for our signature event of the season, Old Stone House Day, 2023. This year we celebrate our shared heritage through the lens of our historic buildings as we mark the bicentennial of the Orleans County Grammar School. It has been said that building lasting heritage is not just about the bricks and mortar left behind but about the lives lived inside those buildings and the human legacies they now represent. The history of the grammar school has touched generations within our local community for 200 years.
Highlights of the event will feature a full four-story open house in the Old Stone House Museum as well as two exhibits in the Grammar School itself representing the founding roots of education in Orleans County. Additional fun at Old Stone House day will include live music by The Michael Hahn Trio. Join (or watch) an old-fashioned barn dance lead by local caller, Raymond Muskewich. Devine Dairy & Draft Horse will be offering wagon rides to the top of Prospect Hill. Historic games and other children’s activities including a pint-size petting zoo will be available. The Brownington Ladies Aid will put on their annual lunch. There will be free tastings of various Jasper Hill Farm cheeses, corn and kettle coffee roasting over an open fire, and our famous pie auction fundraiser. We hope to see you there!
The cost of admission is $15 per car, $10 early bird.
