Our sixth “Glimpse of the Past” with The Barton Chronicle showed photos from the Town of Orleans, Vermont High School football team in 1909 and 1910 and an even older photo of a class trip from the town as well.

For the Orleans High School football team photos from 1909 and 1910, none of the players are identified but the uniforms and equipment are interesting. You can also find their coach.

The other photo shows highlights of an Orleans High School class trip by rail to Boston, New York City and Washington DC. The group is noted as being from what was then called Barton Landing, so the photo must predate 1909. Included in the collection (but not here) are visits to zoos, museums, Central Park, The Brooklyn Bridge, New York City’s harbor, the White House and more.
